Trauma & PTSD
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. I can assist you in overcoming these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
Relationships
Relationship counseling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to strengthen their emotional connection, in all stages of their relationship. Therapy sessions are held with both partners and is a supportive place to discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.

My experience enables me to offer evidenced based outpatient, individualized, counseling services. I treat a number of mental health disorders for ages 14 and up. I've been trained by experts in the fields of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

More About Shelley
I am so glad you are taking the time to find out more about me. Finding the right therapist can be difficult. Hopefully, this information will make the search a little less stressful. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor that enjoys working with teens and adults. My approach is collaborative. I work along side you to support you in reaching goals you identify as important in your life.
I want to provide my clients with the best possible care and believe that my trainings in evidenced based apporaches can help me do that. I have trained under a globally recognized expert in the area of self harm. I have travelled to the world renowned Beck Institute and trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy with Dr. Judith Beck and Dr. Aaron Beck, the creator of Cognitive Therapy. I have also been trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy through the Linehan Institute Behavioral Tech. My training to work with couples has been from the Gottman Institute which is founded by a leading researcher of relationships, John Gottman.
I often work with people who are struggling with mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety (OCD, Panic, Social, Generalized), trauma, self harm, eating disordered behaviors, low self esteem, boundary issues, and difficulties in relationships. Sometimes people seek me out because they are having a difficult time adjusting to a life transition.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy being with my family and pets. I love the outdoors and like to cycle, camp and explore trails . I've recently discovered the game of Pickleball! It's been a great activity to meet new people and make friends. The pics on the website are from my backpacking and travel adventures. I am hoping to bring some of my love for the outdoors to my counseling experience and offer a version of walk and talk therapy that I am calling "Trek Talk". This involves taking the session outdoors and walking as we have a session. If you are interested in this type of session, let me know and we can see if it will be a good fit for us.
