Trek Talk is a unique approach to therapy, often called "walk and talk" therapy. This approach combines the benefits of traditional talk therapy with walking. Sessions are held outdoors rather than an office setting.
Trek Talk clients often sturggle with anger, anxiety, compassion fatigue, depression, insomnia, stress or trauma. It is especially beneficial for those who struggle with eye contact or who may feel uncomfortable sitting in an office. Trek Talk is not a workout or exercise based. Sessions are focused on allowing you to process your thoughts and feelings. Therefore, age or fitness level should not be an issue as long as they do not have a medical or physical condition that may prevent them from participating or be a risk. Screening clients prior to Trek Talk is required to determine if this will be a good fit for your therapeutic goals.
If by chance, we run into someone you know, the client can take the lead in establishing how to handle it. Clients can steer into another direction or politely wave. In parks, people are accustomed to seeing people walk together. A signed consent form is required to address confidentiality prior to beginning.
Clients make the "weather call". You will always have the option of having your session in my office or even online during inclement weather. Although, most people choose to tough it out even on cold or rainy days because it is a chance to build mental resiliency.
Clients have the choice to switch to traditional office settings. Alternating weeks of Trek Talk and office sessions is also an option.
There is no additional cost. It is the same fee as a traditional session.
